Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district witnessed a substantial Maoist surrender on Wednesday, with 50 Naxal fighters, comprising 32 women, laying down their arms. The event took place at the Border Security Force’s Kamtera camp, where the surrendered cadres presented 39 firearms. This development represents a significant disruption to Naxal operations, particularly within the Maad region. The surrender included key figures like senior commanders Rajman Mandavi and Raju Salam, along with five DVCM-rank members and 21 ACM-level individuals. Officials view this as a crucial turning point, with anticipation of approximately 120 more cadres surrendering in Bijapur by Thursday. Enhanced community engagement strategies are being employed to facilitate more returns to mainstream society.
