Two villagers were murdered by Naxalites in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, who accused the victims of being police informants. The Small Action Jagargunda Area Committee of the Communist Party of India (Maoist) claimed responsibility. A note found at the scene stated that Kursam Manglu was involved in police informing and had been warned multiple times. The Deputy Chief Minister Arun Sao strongly condemned the incident, saying that the Naxals are in their last days and are resorting to cowardly actions. Recently, security forces had killed seven Naxalites in an encounter in Narayanpur district.
