ASP Akash Rao Giripunje lost his life in an IED blast carried out by Naxals in Sukma, Chhattisgarh. The blast took place near Dondra village, injuring multiple police officers. The incident happened during a patrol conducted in the wake of a bandh called by the CPI(M). The ASP was on patrol to prevent any Naxal incidents on June 10th. The injured officers were immediately taken to Konta hospital for treatment. Deputy CM Vijay Shamra mourned the loss, recognizing Giripunje’s bravery and service. The attack is a grim reminder of the ongoing conflict, with security forces facing persistent challenges in their operations against Naxal groups. Search operations have been intensified in the area.
