In a pivotal moment for regional security, fifty Naxal rebels, notably 32 women, have surrendered in Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district. The surrender ceremony took place at the Kamtera camp, operated by the Border Security Force’s 40th Battalion. The group presented 39 firearms during the event. High-ranking Naxal leaders, including senior commanders Rajman Mandavi and Raju Salam, were part of the surrender. Also included were five DVCM-rank members and 21 ACM-rank operatives. This collective surrender is expected to weaken the Naxal presence in the Maad region significantly. Authorities are optimistic, with an additional 120 Naxal cadres anticipated to surrender in Bijapur by Thursday. Enhanced outreach programs are underway to persuade more insurgents to rejoin civilian life.
