During the annual general meeting of the Chhattisgarh Olympic Association at the Circuit House auditorium in Raipur, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai outlined significant plans to support the state’s athletes. The meeting covered key topics such as the approval of the audit report for 2024-25, the presentation and approval of the annual budget for 2025-26, and the appointment of auditors. CM Sai highlighted the significant sporting talent within Chhattisgarh and the government’s dedication to developing these talents. He announced the revival of the sports awards ceremony, previously discontinued, and plans to launch an outstanding player honor ceremony soon.
Furthermore, CM Sai revealed the establishment of new Khelo India complexes across Chhattisgarh. He mentioned a recent discussion with Union Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya regarding expanding sports infrastructure. The government has made specific provisions to motivate athletes, especially those competing in the Olympics. Gold medalists from the state will be awarded ₹3 crore, silver medalists will receive ₹2 crore, and bronze medalists will be given ₹1 crore. The Chief Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to increasing the sports budget and encouraging corporate involvement. He also referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s proposal for India to host the Olympic Games in 2036, with Ahmedabad as the proposed host city, emphasizing the central government’s focus on strengthening the sports infrastructure. Similarly, Chhattisgarh plans to organize national-level sports events.
Cabinet Minister Kedar Kashyap lauded the initiative of Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai in launching sports competitions like the Bastar Olympics, which provides a platform for athletes from remote regions. General Secretary Vikram Sisodia presented the secretarial report, with the event also attended by Vice-Presidents Himanshu Dwivedi and Gajraj Pagaria, Treasurer Sanjay Mishra, and numerous sports association officials.
