The future looks brighter for tribal children in Chhattisgarh, thanks to a new initiative by the Central Government. The Ministry of Tribal Affairs has partnered with Coal India Limited to significantly improve the educational infrastructure of 68 Eklavya Model Schools. This collaboration, benefiting around 28,000 tribal students, is designed to offer comprehensive support for education, health, and self-sufficiency. The project involves an investment of ₹10 crore from Coal India Limited’s CSR funds to equip schools with digital learning resources. These resources include the provision of 3200 computers, 300 tablets, and the establishment of computer labs. To promote hygiene and health, the schools will also receive sanitary napkin vending machines and incinerators. Beyond academics, the program will offer career guidance and support, incorporating startup training through bootcamps hosted in collaboration with IIM, IIT, and NIT. The overall goal is to provide equitable educational opportunities, in line with the National Education Policy 2020, under the administration of the National Scheduled Tribes Finance and Development Corporation.
