Heartbreaking news comes from the Jagdalpur district, where two children have tragically lost their lives after drowning in a stone quarry pit in Hazariguda village. The incident prompted an immediate response from the SDRF team, who initiated a rescue operation. The police have confirmed the identities of the victims as Sandeep Nag, aged 5, and Jay Shree, aged 6. The team managed to retrieve the children’s bodies from the water after a strenuous effort. The bodies were subsequently sent to the Medical College in Jagdalpur for a post-mortem examination. Preliminary information suggests that the children were playing near the quarry when they accidentally fell into the water, unaware of the depth. The police are currently investigating all aspects of the incident. This unfortunate event raises serious questions about the safety measures in place at the quarry and the negligence surrounding open pits. Local community members are now calling for the quarry to be secured to prevent similar tragedies from happening in the future.
