A perplexing case unfolded in Dhamtari, Chhattisgarh, where a man’s staged disappearance led to an extensive search operation. After finding clothes and slippers near the Gangrel Dam, authorities believed the man had drowned. The police and divers searched the waters for 12 days. The missing man, Hemant Chandravanshi, was eventually discovered in Delhi. Investigations revealed that Chandravanshi, facing significant debt, fabricated his death. On May 24, Chandravanshi, a resident of Kawardha, had visited Dhamtari with friends. The next morning, after his friends left to purchase supplies, his clothes and slippers were found near the dam. The Rudri police were informed, and a search was initiated. When initial searches failed, police investigated further, eventually tracking a second phone number to Delhi. Police located and brought him back to Dhamtari. ASP Manishankar Chandra stated that Chandravanshi staged his disappearance due to financial troubles. Legal action will be pursued.
