New Governors: Governors of 9 states including Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Maharashtra have changed on Saturday midnight. President Draupadi Murmu on Saturday accepted the resignation of Punjab and Union Territory Chandigarh Governor Banwarilal Purohit. Along with this, she also announced new appointments of governors in 9 states. Ramen Deka has become the new governor of Chhattisgarh. Santosh Kumar Gangwar has got the command of Chhattisgarh’s neighboring state Jharkhand.

With this, Ramesh Bais has been removed from the post of Maharashtra Governor. CP Radhakrishnan, who was the Governor of Jharkhand, will now be the new Governor of Maharashtra. Laxman Prasad Acharya has been appointed as the Governor of Assam. He will also have the additional charge of Governor of Manipur.

Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde has been appointed Governor of Rajasthan. Jishnu Dev Verma has been appointed Governor of Telangana. Om Prakash Mathur has been appointed Governor of Sikkim. Santosh Kumar Gangwar has been appointed Governor of Jharkhand. Ramen Deka has been appointed Governor of Chhattisgarh. CH Vijayshankar has been appointed Governor of Meghalaya. CP Radhakrishnan, who is currently Governor of Jharkhand and holding additional charge of Telangana, has been appointed Governor of Maharashtra. Gulab Chand Kataria, who is currently Governor of Assam, has been appointed Governor of Punjab and Chandigarh. Laxman Prasad Acharya, who is currently Governor of Sikkim, has been appointed Governor of Assam and given additional charge of Governor of Manipur.
