The monsoon season is currently wreaking havoc across the country. The mountainous regions are witnessing cloudbursts and landslides. Rivers are overflowing, causing widespread damage. Heavy rainfall continues to lash Jammu and Kashmir and Himachal Pradesh. There has been intense rainfall in Jammu, Kathua, Bhadarwah, Udhampur, and Batote. Himachal Pradesh is experiencing rain in Kangra, Kullu, Manali, Mandi, and Dharamshala. Dharamshala and Mandi alone received 100 millimeters of rainfall in 24 hours.
Delhi and the NCR region have witnessed light to moderate rainfall in the last 24 hours. The weather department predicts rain and thunderstorms for today. The department also suggests the rain and thunderstorm activity in Delhi will persist. Delhi can expect rain and thunderstorms until August 30. Rainfall or thundershowers are expected on August 31 and September 1.
**Rainfall Eases in Uttar Pradesh**
Uttar Pradesh experienced significant rainfall recently. According to the weather department’s forecast, there is no expectation of heavy rainfall in the state in the coming days. Today, there is a possibility of light showers and thunderstorms in some parts of western and eastern UP, but the weather department has not issued any heavy rainfall warnings. Heavy rainfall is also not expected in the state on August 28 and 29.
**Rainfall Forecast for the Next 24 Hours**
Light rainfall is expected in Western Rajasthan, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Saurashtra, and Kutch during the next 24 hours. Coastal Karnataka, central Maharashtra, and Lakshadweep can expect light to moderate rainfall. Moderate to heavy rainfall is predicted for Punjab, Haryana, and southeastern Rajasthan. Uttarakhand, Northeast India, and Andaman-Nicobar are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall. Telangana, South Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, Marathwada, Gujarat region, Konkan-Goa, Odisha, and North Andhra coast may experience light to moderate rain with isolated heavy showers. Moderate to heavy rainfall is anticipated in Jammu and Kashmir, and Himachal Pradesh.
