The police has exposed the robbery worth crores of rupees which took place at gunpoint in broad daylight on September 11 at Rajesh Jewelers located in Ramanujganj of the district. The police have arrested 6 members of the robbery gang, including the main accused and his girlfriend. The police have arrested the accused along with two pistols, two bikes and a Bolero vehicle. Along with the looted money, jewelery worth approximately Rs 2 crore 40 lakh has also been recovered. This dacoity gang has been considered dangerous in Chhattisgarh and border states. After the robbery in the jewelers shop, Balrampur police formed five different teams and conducted operations in five states to arrest the accused. During this period, the accused have been arrested from Delhi, Jharkhand, Bihar and Punjab. The main accused Sonu alias Anand Soni had also kept his girlfriend Anjani Ekka in the gang to embezzle the robbery proceeds. His girlfriend used to distribute the looted goods at different places. The police have seized the gold jewelery from the girl and have seized her bank account, which contains Rs 5 lakh 80 thousand.
Balrampur Police has been continuously praised since the incident was revealed. After admitting the accused in Ramanujganj jail, the policemen were welcomed by the townspeople with sandalwood tilak and slogans of “Balrampur Police Zindabad”.

The arrested accused include Monu Soni alias Buki (Palamu, Jharkhand), Sonu Soni alias Anand Soni (Palamu, Jharkhand), Rahul Mehta (Aurangabad, Bihar), Vicky Singh (Aurangabad, Bihar), Arvind Soni (Palamu, Jharkhand) and Anjani Ekka (girlfriend of accused Sonu) Chandigarh is included.
