Authorities in Korba, Chhattisgarh, are investigating the suspicious death of Vidyasagar, a 28-year-old man found deceased after allegedly drinking perfume and hanging himself. The family’s claims that he was suffering from mental distress, possibly due to black magic, have added a grim dimension to the case.
Vidyasagar, a married man whose wife is pregnant, was known to his family as a diligent and peaceful individual. Despite occasional alcohol use, his behavior had not previously indicated severe mental health struggles, making his suicide attempt particularly baffling.
The tragic events began when Vidyasagar brought a recently delivered online perfume order into his room. It is alleged by his family that he consumed a significant amount of the perfume before taking his own life on January 5th. The discovery was made by family members concerned about his silence.
He was rushed to a local hospital and subsequently transferred to a district medical college hospital for advanced care, but sadly, he could not be saved. The Katghora police, upon arrival at the scene, found an empty perfume bottle, which is central to the ongoing investigation. They have initiated a post-mortem examination and are compiling witness statements.
Family members have described Vidyasagar’s recent behavior as erratic and indicative of severe psychological distress. They firmly believe that he was influenced by supernatural forces or was subjected to black magic practices, which they cite as the primary reason for his despair. This narrative is being considered alongside more conventional investigative lines.
The police are working to establish a clear timeline of events and understand the psychological state of the deceased leading up to his death. The investigation seeks to uncover all contributing factors, whether mundane or, as alleged by the family, extraordinary.
