Chhattisgarh’s Kanker district has witnessed a major breakthrough with the surrender of 50 Naxal fighters, prominently featuring 32 women. The group presented 39 firearms to security personnel at the Border Security Force’s 40th Battalion camp in Kamtera. Officials believe this operation significantly weakens the Maoist presence in the strategic Maad region. Notable figures among the surrendering cadres include senior commanders Rajman Mandavi and Raju Salam, alongside five DVCM-rank individuals and 21 ACM-level operatives. This event marks the first major surrender from the northern part of the Maad region. Authorities are optimistic that this will lead to further surrenders, with approximately 120 more Naxals expected to demobilize in Bijapur district by Thursday. Enhanced community outreach programs are being implemented to support this transition.
