Kanker district in Chhattisgarh has witnessed a substantial Maoist surrender, with 50 cadres, 32 of whom are women, laying down their arms. The surrender ceremony took place at the Kamtera camp, facilitated by the Border Security Force’s 40th Battalion. The group also relinquished 39 firearms, signaling a significant weakening of Naxal presence in the Maad region. High-ranking Maoist officials, including five DVCMs and 21 ACMs, were part of the surrendering group, marking this as a key development in anti-Naxal operations. This initial surrender from the northern Maad is expected to pave the way for a larger group of around 120 cadres to surrender in Bijapur by Thursday. Enhanced outreach programs are underway to persuade more insurgents to return to mainstream life.
