Prepare for new regulations affecting UPI users from August 1, 2025. The NPCI is introducing these measures to improve the UPI system. Frequent balance checks will be limited to 50 per day, and the number of times users can view their linked bank accounts through an app will be restricted to 25. Payment status checks are also limited to 3 attempts per day, each separated by a 90-second interval. The timing for AutoPay transactions will be scheduled, and chargeback requests will be capped at 10 within 30 days and 5 per entity. These changes are designed to reduce strain on the system and improve transaction speed. The NPCI’s initiative addresses user complaints regarding payment delays and service disruptions, particularly those reported between April and May 2025.
