In a bid to enhance educational opportunities for young people, the Chhattisgarh government has approved a ₹114 crore project to establish 18 central libraries. These libraries, functioning as reading zones as well, will be located in 17 urban bodies, including remote cities such as Sukma, Dantewada, Surajpur, Baikunthpur, and Chirmiri. This initiative by the Urban Administration Department seeks to provide a focused environment for students preparing for competitive exams and will also offer access to a wide range of academic books. Following approval from Urban Administration and Development Minister Arun Sao, the departmental circular was issued to begin the project.
