In a significant move, Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai laid the foundation stone for the joint headquarters of Chhattisgarh State Power Companies in Nava Raipur. The event, coinciding with the state’s Silver Jubilee celebrations and the Ganesh Utsav festival, included a traditional prayer ceremony and the unveiling of a 3D model of the building. The Chief Minister emphasized that the new building would improve the efficiency of employees, strengthen coordination between the three power companies, and consolidate services for consumers under a single roof. He also participated in a tree planting campaign, planting a Moulshree sapling.
CM Sai highlighted that Chhattisgarh’s journey over the past 25 years reflects the power of combining determination and empathy to achieve remarkable outcomes. He noted that the state’s electricity production capacity has grown exponentially, from 1400 MW in 2000 to 30,000 MW today.
His recent visits to Japan and South Korea reinforced his belief that Chhattisgarh is rapidly advancing towards world-class infrastructure and work standards. The new headquarters represents a key milestone in this progress. He instructed officials to ensure the building’s construction adheres to the highest standards of quality and timely completion, solidifying Chhattisgarh’s identity in the energy sector.
The Chief Minister also announced that the new industrial policy has led to the signing of approximately three lakh crore rupees in MOUs within the power sector. This is expected to facilitate an additional 30,000 MW of electricity production in the coming years. He stated that this would not only guarantee 24-hour uninterrupted electricity for residents but also meet the energy demands of neighboring states. He also mentioned the PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, which is accelerating Chhattisgarh’s progress towards providing free electricity, with benefits reaching even the most remote areas.
Forest Minister Kedar Kashyap paid tribute to Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee for his pivotal role in the state’s formation. He said the green energy-based building, costing around 270 crore rupees, will serve as an inspiration for future generations. The event was attended by various dignitaries and officials, including Member of Parliament Brijmohan Agrawal, MLAs, and senior government officials.
The joint headquarters, spanning 10,017 square meters and rising nine stories, will house three separate towers for the different power companies. The building, capable of accommodating 1300 employees, will be equipped with modern amenities, including a 210-seat auditorium, a gym, basement parking, mechanical stack parking, and e-vehicle charging stations. The construction will comply with the highest green building standards, and its operations will be managed by a comprehensive building management system.
Strategically located near the Ministry, Directorate, and Police Headquarters in Nava Raipur, the new building will enhance inter-departmental collaboration, further boosting the state’s energy sector.
