A violent altercation unfolded in the Balodabazar district of Chhattisgarh, specifically in the Dhabadih village of Bhatapara. A petrol pump supervisor was the victim of a severe beating. The assault is attributed to the nephew of Chhattisgarh’s Minister of Sports and Youth Welfare, Tankram Verma, along with his friends. Police have taken action and arrested three individuals in connection with the incident. The primary suspect, Krishna alias Raja Verma, is the nephew of Minister Tankram Verma and is 43 years old. He hails from Champa village under the Palari police station. Ashish Baghel, another accused, is also 43 and resides in Semharadih village, falling under the jurisdiction of the Suhela police station. The third individual involved, Bhim Sahu, is 26 and also a resident of Semharadih village. The incident reportedly occurred on the night of August 9th. Vinod Dubey, the victim, is a resident of Thelki village and filed a complaint with the police. He works as a supervisor at the Nandlal Fuel petrol pump in Dhabadih. Vinod Dubey reported that on August 9th, while on duty around 11 pm, Krishna Verma and Ashish Baghel approached him. They then led him away from the petrol pump to a truck parked near a dhaba. There, in front of several people, Krishna Verma initiated the assault by using abusive language. The attackers allegedly questioned Vinod Dubey’s attitude towards them, further adding that they were related to the minister and thus above the law. The victim was physically assaulted and threatened. Minister Tankram Verma commented that he does not support any wrongdoing. He avoided confirming whether the accused was his nephew but affirmed that the law would take its course and the strictest punishment should be applied as per regulations.
