Following the death of 26-year-old Vedika Sagar, Raipur police have upgraded charges against her boyfriend, T. Sunil Rao, to murder. Vedika died on Tuesday after battling for her life for 24 days in the hospital. She had been severely injured on December 21st when Rao allegedly attacked her with a beer bottle during an argument at a bar. Viral video footage of the incident helped corroborate the family’s claims of extreme violence. The victim’s family had previously protested outside the police station, citing that the initial charges filed were too lenient given the brutality of the attack.
