Navratri, a sacred Hindu festival, is observed four times annually. Two are direct observances, while two are kept hidden. Sharadiya and Chaitra Navratri are well-known, alongside two Gupt Navratris. The Sharadiya Navratri, occurring in the Ashwin month’s Shukla Paksha, venerates the nine forms of Goddess Durga. This year, the festivities commence on a Monday, with the Goddess arriving on an elephant, a symbol of good fortune.
It is believed that during Navratri, Goddess Durga graces the earth to bestow blessings upon her devotees. Let’s explore the commencement of this year’s Navratri celebrations.
