An Improvised Explosive Device (IED) explosion injured a Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) soldier in the Sukma district of Chhattisgarh on Sunday afternoon. The blast, triggered by a pressure IED, happened at approximately 1:45 PM in the hilly forest area near Gogunda, within the jurisdiction of Fulbagdi police station. The injured jawan, a member of the 74th Battalion of the CRPF, suffered injuries to his legs. Security forces were engaged in an area domination exercise when the patrol encountered the explosive device. The wounded personnel was provided initial first aid on-site before being transported by air to Raipur for specialized medical care. Naxalite groups are known to strategically place IEDs along routes in the dense forests of the Bastar region, including Sukma, to ambush security personnel. Tragically, these devices have also harmed innocent civilians. This incident echoes a similar blast on June 9th where Naxalites detonated an IED, resulting in the death of a senior police officer and injuries to two colleagues.
