The Surajpur District Panchayat held a meeting to assess the progress of various government schemes, specifically focusing on the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin. This review highlighted significant issues in the implementation of the housing scheme within the Gram Panchayat Semrakhurd. The Panchayat Secretary, Sukhdev Prasad, has been found negligent in his duties related to the housing construction. Despite the assigned target of 131 houses under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin for the financial year 2024-26, the Panchayat Secretary failed to submit the necessary approvals for 22 beneficiaries under Awas Plus. Furthermore, the progress on the construction of 73 approved houses has been deemed unsatisfactory. The Secretary’s failure to regularly inspect construction sites and ensure timely completion of housing projects has impeded the scheme’s progress. The actions of the Panchayat Secretary are in violation of the established rules and guidelines, constituting misconduct and leading to his suspension.
