Today’s Top News: Like every year on the occasion of Vijayadashami, this year too a grand Dussehra festival was organized at WRS ground in Raipur. After Ramlila and fireworks, the chief guest of the program, CM Vishnu Dev Sai, burnt Chhattisgarh’s largest 101 feet effigy of Ravana by pressing the button from the remote. The city residents had come in large numbers to participate in this grand event.
Balod. A major accident took place on the day of Dussehra festival in Kanwar village of Balod district of Chhattisgarh. Here, more than 7 people, including women and children, got electrocuted when an electric wire broke and fell during Durga Visarjan. The condition of all the injured is said to be critical and they have been admitted to Dhamtari District Hospital, where one person has been kept in ICU. Due to this accident, there was chaos on the spot and people got scared.
Khairagarh. Khairagarh Police has exposed a big gang involved in inter-state animal smuggling. These gangs used to catch the stray cattle roaming in the forest area of Khairagarh district, take them to Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh on foot through the forest route and sell them. The entire matter was disclosed today by SP Trilok Bansal in a press conference.
Dhamtari. Dussehra of Nagar Panchayat Bhakhara has been in controversies for years. In previous years, Ravana Dahan could not take place even after Dussehra. This year, on the night before Dussehra, anti-social elements burnt the ready effigy of Ravana. A 40 feet Ravana was prepared in the grounds of Bhakhara, which was to be burnt today, but late in the night it was set on fire by anti-social elements. Due to this the government vehicle has also been damaged. The organizing committee and the officer have complained about this in the police station. There again an effigy of Ravana is being made.
Korba. Seeing liquor in a bottle at a neighbor’s house, two friends drank it, but as their health started deteriorating, they realized that what they had drunk thinking it was liquor was actually poison. Seeing the serious condition of both the friends, the family members have admitted them to the hospital for treatment.
