Baliram Thakur (60 years), a resident of Harnadadar in Bagbahara block of Mahasamund district, consumed poison on Sunday. His family took him to the Government Hospital, Bagbahara, where, seeing his critical condition, the doctors referred him to Mahasamund Medical College. Tribal Baliram Thakur died during treatment at the medical college, after which the hospital management conducted the post-mortem and handed over the body to the family.

took a loan from a money lender

It was told that the deceased has a son and a daughter, who are married. The deceased had two and a half acres of agricultural land, on which he used to make a living by farming. The family of the deceased is now alleging that the deceased had taken a loan of 30 thousand rupees from the moneylender, which had increased to 50 thousand rupees with interest, and the moneylender was pressuring him to repay the loan, due to which the deceased committed suicide.

On the news of the farmer committing suicide, local Congress MLA Dwarkadhish Yadav met the family of the deceased. He consoled them. Along with this, he has demanded a compensation of Rs 5 lakh from the government to the family.
