A year-long investigation by the Chhattisgarh police has led to the solving of a murder case in Mahasamund, resulting in the arrest of five suspects. The victim’s wife, her former boyfriend, and several family members orchestrated the murder. The case began when a body was discovered in a pond at Ghorari on September 29, 2024. The autopsy indicated a head injury caused by a heavy object. The police initially registered a murder case but were unable to identify the deceased, leading to the burial of the body. The breakthrough came when the City Kotwali police in Raipur discovered a missing person report filed on January 5, 2025, in Khamharideeh. The description matched the deceased, Akash. The body was exhumed on September 24, 2025, and identified through DNA testing. The investigation revealed that Lovely Singh and Akash Singh had married against their families’ approval, and that Lovely had been in a five-year live-in relationship with Abhinav. On September 25, 2024, Lovely’s father invited the couple to their home, where a dispute occurred, escalating into Akash’s murder.
