P. Chidambaram, a prominent figure in the Congress party, has endorsed the Supreme Court’s ruling regarding stray dogs. He believes that the court’s directives should be enforced across all urban and rural areas. According to Chidambaram, the process of collecting stray dogs and housing them in appropriate dog shelters is feasible. He suggested that the primary requirement is government or municipal land, preferably located on the periphery of a city or town. This land would need to be prepared with leveling and fencing to create a secure environment for the dogs. Chidambaram also pointed out the need to ensure that the dogs have access to food and water, indicating that cost-effective solutions exist for this purpose. He stated that while further plans can be developed in the future, the initial focus should be on relocating stray dogs to secure shelters. He also emphasized the importance of ensuring roads are safe for everyone, especially children and senior citizens. The Supreme Court has issued an order to capture all stray dogs in Delhi-NCR within 8 weeks, due to rising concerns about their presence. The court has also instructed that the dogs be kept in safe places and that any opposition to this order would be met with severe penalties.
