The Jammu and Kashmir region has been struck by another disaster, following the recent Kishtwar cloudburst. A cloudburst hit areas of Kathua district overnight between August 16 and 17, leading to a devastating loss of life. At least four people have died, and six others sustained injuries. The heavy rainfall triggered by the cloudburst resulted in homes in the Ghati area being submerged under debris and floodwaters. The Jammu–Pathankot National Highway has also suffered damage. Emergency services are on-site, conducting rescue operations to help those in need.
The incident has prompted a swift response from local authorities. The civilian administration, along with military and paramilitary units, has initiated relief efforts. The situation is under constant observation to ensure that aid reaches all those impacted.
