Following Air Chief Marshal Amarpreet Singh’s statements, the Congress party has raised serious questions about the circumstances surrounding ‘Operation Sindoor’. Singh disclosed that the operation put Pakistan in a vulnerable position, with the Indian Air Force successfully downing five Pakistani fighter jets. This assertive action aimed to send a clear message to Pakistan, eventually compelling them to agree to a ceasefire. Jairam Ramesh, a key figure in the Congress, has questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi abruptly halted the operation, particularly on the evening of May 10. He has raised concerns about external pressures and the speed with which the decision was made. The Congress’s stance echoes earlier criticisms, with the party and other opposition groups alleging that the operation was halted due to intervention from then-US President Donald Trump, a claim that has yet to be officially confirmed.
