The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organized protests, claiming the action hurt religious feelings. Education officials responded by suspending the teacher. Separately, a building collapse in Thrissur, Kerala, resulted in the deaths of three migrant workers from West Bengal. The Kerala Labour Commissioner has been directed to investigate the incident.
