Heavy rains and strong winds associated with Cyclone Ditwah have led to the closure of all schools and colleges in Chennai, Tiruvallur, and Kanchipuram districts. Tamil Nadu officials confirmed the holiday for Tuesday, emphasizing student safety as a primary concern due to the forecast of intense downpours and potential flooding. This proactive measure was announced by district administrators on Monday evening. Authorities are urging the public to exercise caution, avoid non-essential travel, and stay updated with government and disaster management directives. The cyclone has unfortunately resulted in three fatalities due to rain-related incidents in Tamil Nadu. The devastation in Sri Lanka is substantial, with 334 confirmed deaths and extensive damage, especially in Colombo. In a show of international support, India has delivered 53 tons of emergency relief materials to Sri Lanka, furthering its commitment under Operation Sagar Bandhu, which commenced on November 28 for disaster response.
