Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta was attacked by Rajesh Khimji Sakaria, a 41-year-old resident of Rajkot, Gujarat, during a ‘Jan Sunwai’ at her residence. The attack resulted in injuries to the CM, and she is receiving medical care. Sakaria’s mother stated that her son’s actions were motivated by his love for dogs and his anger over the debate regarding stray dogs. She indicated that her son was particularly incensed by a Supreme Court order related to stray dogs. Early that morning, the public hearing started. Sakaria approached the CM around 8 am, gave her a paper, and allegedly assaulted her. Security immediately apprehended him, and he was taken into custody for questioning. Details are being verified by Delhi Police, who are working with authorities in Gujarat. CM Gupta underwent a medical examination. While Delhi BJP president Virendra Sachdeva said the CM was shaken, he downplayed the severity of the physical contact, suggesting a scuffle rather than a direct slap.
