The Kanwar Yatra caused significant challenges for residents of Delhi-NCR. The influx of Kanwariyas, who travel to Haridwar to collect sacred water, led to substantial traffic congestion and road closures, beginning from July 11. Commuters reported severe delays, with travel times multiplying. Schools responded by switching to online learning, disrupting regular schedules and causing concern among families. Alongside the traffic and educational disruptions, there were reports of vandalism and altercations involving Kanwariyas, raising concerns about public safety. Authorities, including the police, implemented alternative routes and special corridors to manage the influx of pilgrims. The UP Chief Minister has also addressed the issue, promising action against those engaging in disruptive behavior. With the Yatra concluding on July 23, the region anticipates a return to normal traffic conditions by Thursday.
