Rajiv Verma, a 1992-batch IAS officer, is set to become the new Chief Secretary of Delhi, as per a recent announcement from the Ministry of Home Affairs. He will take over from Dharmendra on October 1st. The notification detailed that Verma, previously serving in Chandigarh, will now lead the Delhi Government. Born in 1966 in Uttar Pradesh, Verma’s academic credentials include a degree in Computer Science from Roorkee University and an MTech from IIT. His administrative experience spans across numerous key ministries, such as defense, finance, urban development, health, and transport. He served as the Deputy Commissioner of Delhi from 2000 to 2002 and has held various other prominent roles, including Additional Secretary in the Urban Development Department, Principal Secretary, and Commissioner in Delhi. Additionally, he has held positions as Joint Secretary in the Ministry of Defense and Chairman and MD of the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC). More recently, he served as an advisor to the Chandigarh Administrator, along with overseeing the Chandigarh Housing Board.
