Picture zipping across Delhi without the usual traffic snarls—that’s the promise of the Magenta Line’s epic expansion. Delhi Metro is reconfiguring its map, designating Magenta as the flagship longest line at 89km from Botanical Garden to Indralok, bolstered by 17 new interchanges for unmatched connectivity.
Unveiled in Phases 4 and 5 approvals, the project features R.K. Ashram to Indraprastha and Indraprastha-Indralok corridors. Boasting 65 stations (40 underground) and driverless ops, it will host 21 interchanges total—up from a mere four today.
Fresh additions span critical junctions: airport’s Terminal-1, Peeragarhi, Haiderpur, Shivaji Stadium, Delhi Gate, and elite triple points at Azadpur, Central Secretariat, New Delhi, Indralok. These will bridge lines like never before, making citywide travel intuitive.
DMRC’s Anuj Dayal calls it a ‘connectivity revolution,’ poised to ease Delhi-NCR’s daily grind. The line’s full activation will prioritize speed, safety, and sustainability amid rising urban demands.
For airport hoppers, office-goers, and suburban dwellers, this means shorter hops and fewer hassles. As shovels hit the ground, the Magenta expansion signals Delhi’s forward leap in smart city infrastructure, setting benchmarks for India’s transit future.
