In a developing story, the SIT is investigating the accusations made by a former sanitation worker regarding events at Dharmasthala. The individual, who remains unidentified, claimed to have been involved in burying bodies, some with signs of sexual assault, between 1995 and 2014. The former employee’s statement was also recorded before a magistrate. The SIT, headed by Pranav Mohanty, questioned the complainant late into Friday night. The authorities have stated that the arrest was due to discrepancies found in the provided statements and documentation. Karnataka’s Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar expressed concerns that there was a conspiracy to damage the reputation of Dharmasthala and the government has formed an SIT team to investigate the matter.
