The Election Commission of India (ECI) has scheduled a press conference for August 17, 2025, at 3 PM in New Delhi’s National Media Centre, according to the DG Media ECI. This event marks the ECI’s first press conference following the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the Bihar voter list. The SIR initiative, which began four months before the Bihar assembly elections, aims to refine the voter rolls. The ECI is aiming to include every eligible citizen and remove any ineligible names. The comprehensive revision involves door-to-door enumeration. The first phase of counting votes commenced on July 1. The final voter list will be released on September 30, after all claims and objections are addressed. This process is implemented when the Election Commission of India (ECI) feels that the current voter lists are either seriously flawed or need to be completely reconstructed.
