Citizens in 12 Indian states and Union Territories now have an extended period to review and update their voter registration details, thanks to the Election Commission of India (ECI). The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process has been granted a one-week extension. The draft electoral roll, a crucial step before the final list, will now be published on December 16, moving from the earlier date of December 9. This adjustment means the definitive voter list will be available for public viewing on February 14, 2026, a revision from the February 7 date. The ECI is committed to ensuring accurate voter rolls for fair elections. This intensive revision, the second phase of its kind, is currently underway in regions including Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Goa, Puducherry, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, and Lakshadweep. The initial phase of this revision was successfully completed in Bihar.
