The Election Commission of India is preparing for the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, which are scheduled to be held before November 22, 2025. CEC Gyanesh Kumar addressed the public in Patna, noting that the state has 243 assembly constituencies. Kumar highlighted the work of 90,217 booth-level officers who worked to clean the voter lists. The Election Commission launched the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process on June 24, 2025, which was completed by the deadline. Kumar urged voters to actively participate in the elections. He encouraged voters to celebrate the elections with the same fervor they exhibit during Chhath. The CEC congratulated the voters on the successful completion of the SIR. The upcoming election is expected to be a competition between the ruling NDA, led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and the Mahagathbandhan led by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD). The NDA currently holds 131 seats in the 243-member Bihar Assembly, while the Mahagathbandhan has 111 seats. Political activity is increasing with parties making claims and starting campaigns ahead of the election.
