A water tank collapse in the Ambavadi area of Ahmedabad triggered a rescue operation after over ten people were reported trapped. The incident, which occurred near the Azad Nagar Society, prompted immediate action from security forces and the local administration. Two water tanks, each with a total capacity of 2,000 liters, on the third floor of apartments near Azad Nagar Society gave way after heavy rain on Sunday. Despite the structural failure, no fatalities were recorded. Rescue teams utilized ladders to safely evacuate the trapped individuals. An elderly woman was injured and provided with medical assistance. All those trapped were eventually rescued. The Municipal Corporation’s Estate Department is currently preparing a report to determine the future course of action, including potential repairs or demolition. Residents of Birju Apartments have been temporarily relocated. The event has highlighted pressing safety concerns regarding residential apartment buildings.
