Waiel Awwad, a West Asia expert, suggested India could play a crucial part in stopping the Iran-Israel conflict. During an interview, Awwad discussed Prime Minister Modi’s conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and stressed the need for India to use its influence to ease regional tensions. He noted that the conflict could affect India’s food and oil security, and that the region generates considerable revenue for India. Awwad believes India’s leadership role, symbolized by hosting the G20, enables its proactive involvement. Prime Minister Modi conveyed his concerns to President Pezeshkian and called for de-escalation, dialogue, and diplomacy. Over the weekend, the US and Israel allegedly targeted Iranian nuclear sites. Reports indicated the use of B-2 bombers to attack the Fordow nuclear site, a key location for uranium enrichment. President Trump also warned of further consequences for Iran should a peaceful resolution fail.
