Mohammed Nizamuddin, a 30-year-old tech worker from Telangana, was shot by police in California after an alleged altercation involving his roommate. His family has raised serious allegations of racial discrimination, demanding a thorough probe into the circumstances surrounding his death. Nizamuddin had been residing in the US since 2016, having gone there for educational pursuits. The incident occurred on September 3rd, at Nizamuddin’s residence in Santa Clara, where he was found with a knife and his roommate had sustained injuries. His family, based in Mahabubnagar, is requesting assistance from the Indian government and the Telangana state government to bring his body back to India. His father, Mohammad Amsuddhin, has reached out to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), seeking their help to bring his son’s remains back to India at the earliest opportunity. Nizamuddin’s father stated he was informed of his son’s death and highlighted that his son had relocated to California on a promotion.
