The family of Talal Abdo Mahdi, the Yemeni businessman murdered by Kerala nurse Nimisha Priya, has strongly refuted claims that her execution has been postponed. Abdul Fattah Mahdi, the victim’s brother, took to social media to condemn the statements made by Muslim cleric Kanthapuram A.P. Aboobacker Musliyar, who had suggested a delay. Fattah challenged the cleric to publicly clarify the situation and provide details of any contacts made.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) has also confirmed that there has been no official communication about a change in the death penalty verdict for Nimisha Priya. Indian authorities stated that they had not been notified of any such development.
Mahdi’s family is seeking immediate enforcement of the court’s ruling and reiterated their demand for qisas, the Islamic law principle of retributive justice. They have written to Yemen’s Attorney General, requesting that the death sentence be carried out. The family has denied any involvement in agreements with intermediaries and insists that the execution should proceed as scheduled.
