In a devastating event in Faridabad’s Sector 88, a retired bank manager, Khulwant Singh, died after a skywalk he was on collapsed. The skywalk, situated between residential towers, gave way while Singh was watering plants. Police investigations have revealed the structure was originally a fire escape, now repurposed as a garden. Singh’s family has filed a complaint, citing negligence by the Residents Welfare Committee (RWA). The police are examining the RWA’s role in structural maintenance and any potential failures. Concerns regarding building quality had been raised by residents earlier. An RWA representative expressed sadness, reiterating earlier warnings against obstructing the skywalk’s intended emergency function.
