Tragedy struck near Talegaon in Pune when a bridge over the Indrayani River collapsed on Sunday. The collapse resulted in the deaths of four people and left 51 injured. The incident took place around 3:15 pm, prompting immediate action from authorities after receiving the information around 3:30 pm. Rescue teams were quickly dispatched to the area. CM Devendra Fadnavis announced Rs 5 lakh in financial assistance for the families of the deceased and stated that the state would cover the medical costs for those injured. The deceased individuals have been identified as Chandrakant Salve, Rohit Mane, and Vihaan Mane, with one person yet to be identified. Preliminary reports indicated 15-20 people were present on the bridge when it gave way. District Collector Jitendra Dudi reported on the situation, highlighting the rapid deployment of a 250-strong rescue team. The Quick Response Team is currently on-site evaluating the circumstances. Union Home Minister Amit Shah expressed his condolences and contacted CM Fadnavis to discuss the situation, offering support for the injured.
