Marking International Women’s Day with momentum, Imphal witnessed the ‘Fit India Sundays on Cycle – Imphal Edition’ at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, courtesy of SAI North East Regional Centre. The Sunday event saw Manipur’s Sports Minister Govindas Konthoujam wave the green flag to start the cycling showdown.
Engaging with the press, Konthoujam detailed how such drives motivate healthier choices and bolster Fit India goals. He stressed the link between individual fitness and collective prosperity, applauding the Youth Affairs and Sports Ministry’s role in awareness campaigns.
Sharing festive greetings, he implored participation in health-focused endeavors. Laishram Sarita Devi, the Arjuna-honored athlete, inspired attendees by championing women’s equality and fitness. ‘Women shape our society—stay fit to build a strong foundation,’ she proclaimed.
Dhandapani C, overseeing the regional centre, lauded the influx of cycling clubs and diverse riders including CRPF members and athletes. The ride unified voices for national wellness.
