Priyanka Gandhi has launched a strong critique of the Indian government’s policy towards Palestine, describing it as ‘shameful’ and lacking ‘moral rectitude.’ She took to social media to express her views, recalling India’s early recognition of Palestine in 1988, when it stood in solidarity with the Palestinian people. She pointed out that other countries, such as Australia, Canada, and the UK, have recently followed suit, but noted that India’s current approach represents a disappointing shift from its earlier stance.
Israeli leaders, including Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, have voiced strong objections to the recognition of a Palestinian state. Netanyahu has stated that Israel will not compromise its security for what he perceives as political agendas. Meanwhile, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the recognition of Palestine by other countries, seeing it as a step toward a two-state solution and a path toward peace.
