A global alert has been issued by Google, impacting 2.5 billion Gmail users, urging them to update their passwords and activate two-step verification due to increased hacking attempts. The advisory follows a data breach that has made Gmail accounts more vulnerable. Google recommends users create strong, unique passwords, and enable two-factor authentication (2FA) to safeguard their accounts. The cyber threat is believed to be originating from the hacking group ShinyHunters, which has been active since 2020. This group is known for orchestrating significant data breaches and employing tactics such as phishing.
