Tensions are escalating at Goa Medical College as doctors, led by CMO Dr. Rudresh Kuttikar, are demanding a public apology from Health Minister Vishwajit Rane. The demand is a result of the Minister’s alleged humiliation of Dr. Kuttikar during an inspection at the casualty department. The Goa Association of Resident Doctors (GARD) backs the doctors’ stance, warning of a potential strike if the apology is not forthcoming. The dispute began after a disagreement regarding a B12 injection request in the emergency room. Dr. Kuttikar has dismissed the Minister’s earlier apology, viewing it as inadequate and insisting on a public apology delivered at the location of the initial incident. The Dean of GMC has relayed the doctors’ demands to the health ministry, with the hospital also agreeing to ban videography in treatment areas. The incident has triggered widespread protests from medical professionals at GMC, highlighting concerns over VIP culture within the hospital system.
