Sunday’s launch of the Gujarat Semiconnect Conference 2026 by CM Bhupendra Patel at Mahatma Mandir, Gandhinagar, set the stage for semiconductor supremacy. Organized by the Science and Technology Department with the theme ‘Gujarat – India’s Gateway to Silicon,’ the event unites international chip innovators with Gujarat’s industrial might across two days.
Following the inaugural, Patel conducted targeted bilateral meetings with key investors. Topics spanned semiconductor R&D, memory facility setups, power chip fabrication, and specialty chemical operations. The CM passionately outlined Gujarat’s ecosystem strengths in Dholera and Sanand, backed by the government’s agile, pro-business framework.
The lineup featured Deepak Nitrite’s Meghav Mehta, Hotai Electronics Chairman Dato Sri Lee Hung Loong (Malaysia), Suqi-ROHM Semicon’s Mokoto Terada MD and Ashok Mehta founder, Horiba India’s Rajiv Gautam, and Applied Materials’ COO Radhika Viswanathan.
Accompanying the CM were Chief Secretary MK Das, Industries ACS Mamta Verma, PS Sanjeev Kumar, Industries Commissioner P. Swaroop, APS Dr. Vikrant Pandey, and S&T Secretary P. Bharti, ensuring policy alignment.
This conference is Gujarat’s clarion call to the world: it’s open for semiconductor business. Leveraging world-beating incentives and connectivity, the state eyes transformative investments that will propel Gujarat—and India—into the big leagues of chip production, fostering growth, skills, and technological sovereignty.
