Heavy rainfall has caused a devastating landslide in the Dilaram area of Darjeeling, resulting in at least seven confirmed fatalities. The incident occurred on the Kurseong-Darjeeling road, prompting a swift response from rescue teams who have recovered seven bodies. Efforts are underway to locate two missing persons believed to be trapped in the debris. The Kurseong-Darjeeling road is impassable due to the landslide, and the Rohini Road is also closed. Pankhabari Road is reportedly in a precarious condition, but Tindharia Road is open. Tourists are being evacuated from Mirik via Tindharia Road, with authorities anticipating completion of the evacuation process within a few hours.
